curriculum mapping

If your buildings are able to have a literacy/reading coach and a math coach and a science coordinator-they will probably have this info in their files. i.e. reading themes for each grade levels-they can be a tremendous help and take some of the teacher work away. You could enter in given info-ask for additional info for other subject areas and check for accuracy.

That is a great idea. Our district has blue prints for reading, writing, and math that have science and social studies sprinkled throughout them. What do you think about asking to be a part of adding information literacy skills to those blue prints? It might be a nice thing to at least put out there and approach other T-L's in our districts about.

Also, if it is on the blueprint, maybe teachers might find opportunities to integrate some in the regular classroom when it is easy. :)

My district spent 2 years with a computer program and trainings from somewhere (Portland I think) just mapping curriculum. It was a nightmare because every year you had to start over since there was no consistency across grade levels. We have now spent the past 2 years working with Leanna Traill from New Zealand and have produced grade level curriculum maps that are the same across the district. It is wonderful. New teachers know exactly what they are doing and if a kid moves from one school to another they start right where they left off.
