OK-I'm a bit overloaded now but just a question to you elementary librarians. How many of you have online databases for student researching? We currently do not have anything in place-I'm wondering if it is common and if we need to get it started. Thanks, Heidi

We have lots of online databases:
E Library K - 12
E Library Elementary
Encyclopoedia Britannica Online
World Book Online
ProQuest
SIRS Discoverer
AP Images
CultureGrams
Netrekker (which is really a search engine and not a database - but you do have to pay for it)

It's really more than I use on a regular basis , but I do love CultureGrams and I think it's good to have one of the encyclopedias.
I'll be interested to see what others have/are doing.

We do, of course, it Seattle. Not many are K-5 oriented. We have Tumblebooks, which the teachers love if you show it to them.

I think they are a wonderful under used resource, but my library likes to keep student in hard copies as long as possible.

email me and I'll give you the usernames and passwords to Seattle. Why not?
