I really do not want to have to evaluate students in the library through assessments etc. I do give a number 4321-dependent on behavior and participation.
I wish we felt we had time to evaluate our students. In reality, I teach them 15-20 minutes per week and then we do check out and formal evaluation would take time that we just don't have. I have done some pre-assessments and post-assessments for units I have taught, but that is all I have for anything formal.
As a specialist for OMG 7 years now I never really get to evaluate the students with a formal number grade, but better than that is the * or - and a comment. As a parent those comments say it all.
It would be nice if there were a way to evaluate kids. However, with the way the elementary is set up, it won't happen (for me) this year. If anyone has any luck with this - giving grades, etc - I would be glad to hear how it works.
